ESSEC Campus Durable, c'est quoi?
It is a student led initiative launched in 2009-2010 thanks to Oikos Paris and the “Bureau des élèves” which is the main student organization within our school; it is the intermediary between administration and students. The Sustainable Campus initiative (ESSEC Campus Durable in French) was tripartite because it was composed of students, administration members and teachers. Its mission was to be a platform to promote participatory sustainable development projects on the campus.
The strategic aspects for ESSEC identified by this initiative were the following:
1) Strategy and Governance
2) Social policy and territorial presence
3) Environmental impact
4) Education and training
5) Research
Here are some concrete realizations made thanks to the Sustainable Campus initiative :
· Communication
o A “Sustainable Campus” website accessible for all ESSEC students
o Facebook group: I support the Sustainable Campus ESSEC Group
o - Edition of the "Good reflexes on the Campus" (june2012)
· Biodiversity
o Hive for bees were put in place on ESSEC roofs in 2011
o - Plantation of an orchard (nov2012) in collaboration with local associations and administrations and supported by the "Fondation de France"
· Reducing environmental footprint:
o Replacement of all computers by less consuming computers (cloud computing)
o Electric meters have been put in place of each building of the campus so that we can have more information about how to reduce it
o A project room with low consumption electronic infrastructure is ongoing (LED, adjustable luminosity, etc.)
o Recycling bins have been installed in the cafeteria and administration offices
o ESSEC Reprography has obtained the “Imprim Vert” label which is a national network label. The network is composed of graphic industry actors who are willing to reduce reprography environmental footprint. Technical specifications must be fulfilled. ESSEC is the first business school to obtain this label in France.
o Car sharing platform for ESSEC members.
o events to communicate on green solutions (cycling, carsharing, electrical cars, etc)
o all new constructions in the campus are "HQE" : environmental high quality (traduction ??)
o project to reduce paper consumption : since 2011 developpement of online and e-learning platforms for students to access to courses syllabus and documents on web versions. Project in course and in development.
This year, ESSEC has decided to give a higher importance to this structure. In fact, administration and teacher are working to institutionalize the Sustainable Campus. This means that it will be managed/organized by the school but will still be open to student cooperation.Cliquez ici pour modifier.
